The purpose of the Community Outreach Office is to create an open line of communication between the city and residents and stake holders through news, education and events.
How is this accomplished?
- Communications
- Engagement
-
We want our community to be involved in all that we do at the City. Whether it be attending a City Council meeting to provide input or feedback on current topics of discussion, soliciting input on upcoming projects, hearing for our residents when there are potholes that need to be filled, or volunteering their time in our community.
The City of Lynnwood needs your help! We need quality volunteers to assist in our Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department, assist our Police Department and Fire Department in the area of Public Safety, appointed positions on our Boards and Commissions, and several other opportunities.
- Education
-
Have you ever wondered about what services are provided by the City of Lynnwood? Lynnwood University is an 8-week course offered free of charge to Lynnwood residents every fall. Each night students will learn about a different city department through hands-on demostrations and lectures delivered by Department Directors, the Mayor and City Council Members. The Police Department's Citizens Academy is another way to learn more about public safety in the City of Lynnwood. Offered to Lynnwood residents starting in January, Citizens' Academy is a 12-week course that helps familiarize the public with common police procedures, activities and investigative techniques.
The Neighorhoods & Demographic Diversity Commission hosts Community Educational Forums twice a year. Past topics have included: Budget Town Hall, Gang Prevention and Awareness, and a South County Candidates' Forum.
- Events
-
The City of Lynnwood partners with several community organizations and non-profits to offer events throughout the year. An example of some of our events are the Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, the Celebration of Food Fesitval, National Night Out, to name a few. To see what events are coming up soon, visit our events calendar.
