the Lynnwood Hearing Examiner will conduct a formal public hearing at which the above-referenced project will be considered.  Persons owning property within 600 ft. of the project site are especially noticed and invited, but any interested party may appear and give testimony at the above time and place.  No new materials, testimony, or statements shall be considered after the date of this public hearing.

Application and Project Description:

The applicant proposes to construct a new single-family house on the same property as an existing accessory building. The property is located at 18920 36th Ave W which is located at the northwest corner of 36th Ave W and Amini Court. The applicant wishes to use the existing accessory building as a detached accessory dwelling unit. The existing accessory structure is permitted to remain as a legally nonconforming structure. In order for the accessory structure to be converted to a detached accessory dwelling unit a variance is needed as follows:

Variance Request: To permit a detached accessory dwelling unit in the front yard of a single-family property. (LMC 21.42.110(G)).

Variance criteria can be found in Chapter 21.26 LMC.


The project site is located at 18920 36th Ave W.  The Assessor’s Parcel Number is 01101900000100.

Appeal of Hearing Examiner Decision:

Only persons who:

  • Appear and give testimony at the public hearing; or
  • Submit written comments to the Community Development Department; or
  • Submit a written request for a copy of the Examiner’s decision

may appeal the decision.  Only comments and testimony received at or prior to the hearing may be considered at the Hearing, or at any appeal proceeding.
