Alternatives to Jail


You are eligible to complete community service in lieu of jail time if it is indicated as such on your “order of commitment” document.

Please fill out and sign the community service application below. Applications may be turned in at the front desk of the Lynnwood Police Department.

Community Service Application

To sign up for community service, contact the program coordinator at the phone number below.

The community service fee of $30.00 must be paid in full before beginning community service.

Community service must be served within the City of Lynnwood’s community service venues unless authorized by the judge or program coordinator. 

You may be eligible to serve your community service at a venue outside of the City of Lynnwood under special circumstances. This will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

Community service is available seven days a week and should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.

Each sentence day is equal to eight house of work.

Completing the application does not mean automatic acceptance into the home detention program. (Include a copy of your “Order of Commitment” form when turning in the application)

          Electronic Home Detention

     • If you are accepted, you will receive a telephone call or a letter will be mailed to the address listed on the     application. If you have not been contacted within 12 days of applying, please contact program coordinators.     (Contact information below).
    • If you are denied, a letter will be mailed to you with reason for denial.

Payment Information
The cost of the program is $20.00 a day. Cash, money order, cashier’s check, debit or credit (Visa/ MasterCard) are all acceptable methods of payment.


All commitments of ten days of less must be paid in full at the start of the sentence. Commitments of over ten days will require a 50% down payment at the start of the sentence. The remainder will be divided up weekly until the end of the sentence at which point the balance must be paid in full.
