Safe, Welcoming and Equitable Community

A Message From Mayor Nicola Smith
Lynnwood is a safe, welcoming, and equitable community

Dear Lynnwood Community Members,

All members of our community deserve to feel safe and secure in their homes and in their community.

Recently I have heard from community members expressing concern over their safety and the safety of their friends, family, and neighbors. First and foremost, the City of Lynnwood is committed to being a welcoming and inclusive city that is safe for all those that live, work, play, go to school and do business in our community.

In Lynnwood, our diversity is honored and celebrated. Our diversity includes racial, ethnic, socioeconomic status, ages, gender, sexual orientation, country of origins, veteran status, differently-abled, as well as a diversity of thought, religion, workforce and marketplace.

We serve our community by building trusting relationships built upon a foundation of mutual respect and understanding. We are committed to being pro-equity in city practices and governance through our actions, processes and decisions.

These are not new ideals for the City of Lynnwood. We will continue to serve and protect all members of our community, and we will not tolerate acts of hate, discrimination, harassment or bias.

We strongly urge anyone who has been a victim of a crime to contact the Lynnwood Police Department. Alternatively, if you are experiencing hate, discrimination, or bias, you can also contact me.

Sincerely,

Your Mayor, Nicola Smith

Resolution 2017-03, adopted unanimously by the Lynnwood City Council on January 25, 2017, reaffirms the City of Lynnwood's commitment to be a safe, welcoming, and equitable community for all. Resolution 2017-03 Safe, Welcoming, and Equitable City.
