2013 9/11 Memorial Activities

This September 11th marks the twelfth-year anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon and the crash of Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. In this terrorist attack, 2,753 American lives were lost, including:

  • 343 FDNY Firefighters and Paramedics
  • 23 NYPD Officers
  • 37 Port Authority Police Officers

To honor their sacrifice and memory, there will be a short memorial service at Fire Station 15’s flagpole. Details (times adjusted to match EDT) are as follows:

  • 0655 Hours: All on-duty crews assemble at Station 15’s flagpole in Class B Uniform.
  • 0658 Hours: All uniformed employees at attention and observing a minute of silence.
  • 0659 Hours: SNOCOM will transmit a single tone on Fire Dispatch 5 followed by a pre-scripted announcement.
  • 0700 Hours: Resume normal operations.

You are invited to join us to honor them, and those who are still fighting the war on terrorism around the globe today. The flag flown at Station 15 on 9/11 was flown over the US Capitol on 9/11/04.
