Library Gallery Featuring Maura Donegan

Fiber Art on display through Sept 4

Contributed Photo: Maura Donegan

Fiber Art Embroidery by Irish artist Maura Donegan is featured at the Lynnwood Library Gallery through September 4th. Working with silk organza, tulle, rayon and metallic thread, Maura creates dramatic monochromatic lace cloth grids where she embroiders words whose sounds and meanings evoke memories - both happy and sad. Reminiscent of crosswords, answers emerge from hidden clues. Maura has degrees in design, embroidery, quilting and fiber art having studied in Ireland, England and most recently the University of Washington. Like her mother, grandmother, great grandmother and the women before them who stitched for pleasure and comfort, Maura carries on that tradition in her works with patience, reflection and repetition. A reception for the artist will be held on August 19th from 6 - 8pm.

Free to the public, the Lynnwood Library Gallery showcases local and regional artists on both the amateur and professional level.

Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday from 10am - 9pm, Friday from 10am - 6pm, Saturday from 10am - 5pm and Sunday 1pm - 5pm. The Library is closed on national holidays.
