Lynnwood Fire Department Joins the Heartsafe Project and Nick of Time Foundation for CPR Demonstration

On October 30, 2014 Lynnwood Firefighters joined the Heartsafe Project and the Nick of Time Foundation to conduct a CPR demonstration to students at Meadowdale High School. Fire Department Lieutenant John Puetz was the MC for the Lynnwood Fire Department and spoke to the students during a general assembly.

Meadowdale students assisted in the demonstration by performing CPR to the beat of the 1977 song “Staying Alive”, which is used to maintain the pace of compressions delivered during actual CPR. The project is encouraging students to learn CPR and to be prepared to help family and friends during an emergency. The project is dedicated to Matthew Traux, who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at school in 2013.
