The City of Lynnwood is pleased to announce the appointment of Tom Davis as the Interim Chief of Police. Tom comes to the City of Lynnwood with nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience in Washington State, with more than half of the time spent in management and leadership positions. Interim Chief Davis comes to Lynnwood from the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office where he's spent the last 28 years in varying leadership roles.
"Tom Davis is well known and well respected in this region" stated Mayor Nicola Smith. " His philosophy of community-oriented policing is in alignment with our city's efforts to convene, converse, and collaborate in order to foster a stronger partnership between the Lynnwood Police Department and our community, as well as with other city departments and County agencies."

While serving as the Interim Chief of Police, Tom Davis will oversee the City's Criminal Justice and Law Study which is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2016. The purpose of the Criminal Justice and Law Study is to assess these areas and develop strategies for transparent and sustainable services. The City has contracted with the Matrix Consulting Group to conduct the review of the Police Department's programs and the National Center for State Courts to review our Municipal Court, Prosecuting Attorney and Public Defense services.

"I am honored to lead the talented staff at the Lynnwood Police Department," stated Interim Chief Davis. "I look forward to partnering with Mayor Smith, the City's leadership team, and the community during this pivotal period of transition." Interim Chief Davis is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Program and Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command. In addition, he possesses Supervisor and Executive Level Management Certifications from the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Management and is a graduate of the US Naval Postgraduate School where he received his Master's Degree in Security Studies.
