Lynnwood Police Department Citizens Patrol Recruitment Starts Now!

Citizen's Patrol

The Lynnwood Police Department is now recruiting for membership to the Citizens Patrol volunteer group. This very active group engages civic minded citizens with the opportunity to serve and support their community by working alongside their police department employees.

Working in teams of two, Citizens Patrol members support the work of officers by directing traffic, opening locked vehicle doors, patrolling businesses and neighborhoods, assisting with vehicle battery jump starts, and much more!

Members are asked to sign up for two 4-hour evening shifts per month, and attend a monthly training meeting. Daytime shifts on weekends are also available.

Prerequisites:

  • 18+ year of age
  • Attend the 13-week Citizens Academy starting Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, 7-10pm
  • Application to the Citizens Patrol Training Academy (100 hours of specialized training) which follows the Citizens Academy.

For an online application and more information about the Citizens Academy please visit the Citizens Academy web page.

Along with our Citizens Patrol group, we also offer a VIPS program (Volunteers in Public Safety), an Explorers Post (ages 14-20) and other volunteer opportunities.
