Lynnwood Volunteers Celebrate Earth Day

Mayor Smith, Jeff Persons from Parks Operations, and volunteer Stephanie Brown kick off an Earth Day clean-up project at Sprague's Mini Park and Scriber Creek Trail.Mayor Smith, Jeff Persons from Parks Operations, and volunteer Stephanie Brown kick off an Earth Day clean-up project at Sprague's Mini Park and Scriber Creek Trail.

Stephanie Brown, a frequent user of Scriber Creek Trail and Sprague's Mini Park, met with Mayor Smith last Wednesday for one of the Mayor's Citizen Engagement sessions. Stephanie shared with Mayor Smith her concerns over the Scriber Creek Trail and the large amount of litter and illegal dumping that is happening in the creek bed. Because Stephanie brought her concerns forward, our Parks Maintenance crew was alerted to a problem in an area of the park that is not easily accessible. Stephanie then went door-to-door in her neighborhood inviting people to join her on Earth Day for a park clean-up project. The City of Lynnwood sincerely appreciates Stephanie's efforts in making our community a great place to live!
