How to Join the Lynnwood Police Department

Police Officer     

To qualify for civil service testing to become a police officer, you must meet the following qualifications

  • United States Citizenship, or a lawful permanent resident
  • Be at least 20 1/2 years old 
  • Pass a physical ability performance test 
  • Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

Entry-Police Officer Applicants - the Lynnwood Police Department conducts entry-level testing through PublicSafetyTesting.com. Please visit http://www.publicsafetytesting.com/ to apply. Our hiring process is as follows: 

  1. Physical ability tests (PAT) - Pass or Fail Examination
  2. PST Written Exam - weighted 100%
  3. Top 30 placed on Eligibility List
  4. Criminal background check, psychological assessment, polygraph, and medical assessment
  5. Chief's and/or Command Interview
  6. Basic Law Enforcement Academy through Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission
