MLK Jr Day of Service

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, we encourage community members to find safe ways to celebrate MLK Jr.'s legacy of service.

Here are some ideas:
  • Donate blood
  • Bring a meal to a neighbor in need
  • Pick up garbage in your neighborhood
  • Help an older adult with yard work
  • Host a virtual discussion about Dr. King's life and teachings
  • Put together your own emergency preparedness kit, and one for a neighbor: www.ready.gov/kit
  • Find a local volunteer opportunity via AmeriCorps: www.nationalservice.gov/serve/search
  • Attend the virtual event "Becoming Brave" - a tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Inspiring a beloved community in song, spoken word and dance presented by Lift Every Voice Legacy in partnership with Communities of Color Coalition Register here: beloved4all.org
  • Join the 2021 Greater Everett Community Celebration on Sunday, January 17th at 5:30 PM via Facebook Live
  • Lynnwood Senior Center MLK Jr. Drive-Thru Event on Friday, January 15th from 1 – 2pm to honor and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bring Valentine cards or non-perishable food to drop off from your car and receive MLK’s favorite treat (while supplies last). Valentines will go to soldiers serving abroad, food to the Lynnwood Food Bank. For more information, visit: MLK Day of Service event
