Does all of Lynnwood get priority or just incorporated Lynnwood?
  • Just incorporated Lynnwood. You can also call the Recreation Center at 425-670-5732 for assistance.

How do I know if I am a Lynnwood resident?

How will I know what level to sign up for?
  • If you are currently in lessons, you will get a registration ticket at the end of a swim session with an online registration code for the level your student should go into.
  • If you are new to the swim lesson program you will want to schedule a swim test, online or at customer service, before registration. It is free and we will assess the swimmer and provide you with a registration code for your registration day.

Where will I get registration codes?
  • On the registration ticket you get at the end of the session (from the aquatics office, not the front desk).
  •  If you are new to the program, you can sign up for a free swim assessment test online or at the front desk to determine the level your student is ready for.  We will give you a registration code when you come in for a swim assessment.

How can I use my VERDANT voucher?
  • Vouchers can be used when you register in person at the front desk, or if you register online and pay to hold your spot, you can bring your voucher to the front desk to get a refund.

Can I sign up for more than one class each session?
  • Yes, but a second or even a third class will be review and a repeat of the first class. All classes follow a structured lesson plan provided to the instructors. Day 1 of week 1 on a Monday will be the same class on day 1 of week 1 for Tuesday or Wednesday or any day of the first week. Additional classes will be a review for the student of what they have already been taught.

Can I sign up for more than one class on the same day?
  • Yes, but a second or even a third class will be review and a repeat of the first class. All classes follow a structured lesson plan provided to the instructors. Day 1 of week 1 on a Monday will be the same class on day 1 week 1 for 5:30 or 7:00 or any other time of the first week. Additional classes will be a review for the student of what they have already been taught.

Should I sign up for more than one day of lessons?
  • Parents know their children best and how they learn best. Some students can only squeeze one day into their busy schedules; some remember things better with back to back lessons; and some need time to recover between classes. We hope having classes on all days of the week helps parents choose what is best for their child and family.

What content will be in the class?
  • Instructors follow daily lesson plans, so each class in a given week will be similar in content. Instructors do their best to teach to the skill of the student, and challenge them appropriately whether or not they have mastered the skill for the level they are in.

How do I request an instructor?
  • After you register for a class, you can request an instructor by talking to the aquatics office - in person or by phone – 425-670-5528.

Will the classes still be 28 minutes?

  • Yes, and a reminder, if you have any questions or concerns during the lesson please talk with a supervisor in the aquatic office or have a brief chat with the instructor during their 2-minute transition.

Does this mean I can do a make-up if I miss my class since you are doing the same thing each day?
  • Not at this time. We will be reviewing the possibilities of this and accommodations as we roll out the modifications to the lesson program.

Won’t this slow down the advancement through the different levels of the program?
  • We don’t anticipate this will happen. We have been running one day a week lessons for over 20 years and have found only a 5% to 7% increase of two day a week lessons from one day a week lesson. Student passing rates are almost identical.
