About George Hurst
Thanks for taking the time to find out more about me. I was elected to Lynnwood City Council Position 6 in 2015. Previously I have served on the Lynnwood Planning Commission and the Transportation and Traffic Task Force. As part of my current council duties I am Council Liaison to the Planning Commission and I serve on the City LEOFF Disability Board, The Snohomish County 911 Board, and the Community Transit Board.
I have lived in Lynnwood since 1992 with my wife and four children. All four are graduates of Lynnwood High School (when it was still in Lynnwood). I have a BA in history/political science from the University of Washington and a MA in American History from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. So with that educational background it seems logical that I have been in the electrical/commercial lighting business for over 30 years...OK, maybe that is not so logical but life is like that sometimes. And now, with my business background combined with my education I have many ideas regarding how the City Council can best serve the people of Lynnwood. I believe together, the City Council and engaged community members will truly make Lynnwood a better place to live and work.
I look forward to helping Lynnwood thrive as it grows and becomes a hub for south Snohomish County.
