Volunteering with the Explorer Program

Our Lynnwood Police Explorer Program is a hands-on program aimed at exposing youth to a career in Law Enforcement.

The Explorer Program offers youth a deeper understanding of the criminal justice system through training, practical excises and community activities. Most importantly, this program creates a safe place for youth to interact and build meaningful relationship with our Lynnwood Police Officers.

 Here's how you can be a part of this exciting program:

Online

Step 1.Review Minimum Requirements

  • Age 14 to 21
  • Able attend minimum two meetings per month
  • Able to pass background check
  • Maintain minimum school GPA of 2.0

Step 2.Complete and submit Application

Step 3.In Person Interview

You will be asked to join us for a regular Explorer meeting then a brief meeting with an Explorer Adviser.

Step 4.Background Check

Once we received your completed application, we will begin the criminal background check process.

Step 5.Acceptance Confirmation

We will contact you within two weeks with our decision.

The Washington Law Enforcement Explorer Academy covers many of the basic building blocks of law enforcement. Topics may include but are not limited to: ethics, building searches, traffic control, radio communication, traffic stops, criminal law, court procedures, basic interviewing, crime scene investigation, collision investigation, report writing, domestic violence, use of force, firearms safety, firing range, physical agility test, and mock scenes.
