Child car seats save lives and are required by law.  YOU CAN HELP!

As a Volunteer Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, you can help with instruction and proper installation of car seats for the community through the Lynnwood Police Department.

Step 1.Review Minimum Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • Able to contribute minimum of 10 hours per month
  • Able to pass our background check
  • Able to lift up to 10 pounds 
  • Complete and pass the 3-day Certification Course which is held a few times per year in the Puget Sound area.

Step 2.Schedule Observation Appointment

We will contact you to schedule an Observation Appointment during an upcoming car seat inspection appointment. This will allow you to see a car seat inspection in action. Upon completion of the observation appointment, we will provide you with a take home Personal History Packet

Step 3.In Person Interview

Once you have completed your ride-along shift, we will contact you to schedule a brief interview with our volunteer and staff.

Step 4.Background Check

Upon completion of an interview, observation appointment and personal history packet, we will begin our background check process, e.g. fingerprints, criminal and driving record check.

Step 5.Acceptance Confirmation

Once our staff has reviewed your complete application and personal history packet, we will contact you within two weeks with our decision.
