Police Media and Communications

Welcome to the Lynnwood Police Department Media Center!

My name is Maren McKay, Public Affairs and Communication's Manager and I'm here to help you create your perfect story. The sooner I know about your story request the better as I'm a team of one! I am on call 24/7, but please be patient as I triage requests.

Media visits:

The sooner you can send me a request the better! There are many moving pieces at the department and it's possible that the person or the topic you're interested in interviewing isn't available or working that day. If you're interested in doing a ride along as part of your story, please know that process takes at least 24 hours if not longer to get approved.

LPD Blotter:

Several times a month I post the "LPD blotter" summarizing some of the most notable incidents that happened in town. This is a great way to check in to see if you missed anything that you want to dig into further. Head to our YouTube page to see all these episodes.

Do I live in Lynnwood:

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our jurisdiction. I know that the city's borders are confusing. Anything that's in Unincorporated Lynnwood is considered county and therefore you will need to reach out to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office. View that map here.

Public Disclosure Requests:

Requests for any photos and video must go through our public disclosure request process. You will need the case number you're interested in to make that request. Please keep in mind, if you're requesting information about an active and on going investigation, images, videos, narrative etc may not be able to be released as it would compromise the investigation.

Information the PIO does not release:

Victim or witness identities.

Identity of juveniles (individuals under 18 years of age).

Identity of deceased people (Medical Examiner's office does this).

Criminal History and medical conditions of anyone.

Results of any investigative procedure such as line-ups, interviews/interrogations, polygraph tests, toxicology tests, etc.

Status of people turned over to Behavioral Health Services or Child Protective Services.

Booking Photos or "Mug shots".

Video surveillance footage is not routinely released and is considered evidence in an investigation. If public assistance will aid in the investigation the video footage may be released to the media at the investigators discretion.

Make sure you follow our social media! We keep all our socials up to date and post all press releases there.
