Lynnwood Residents Only

Celebrate Earth Day 2021 with the City of Lynnwood and the Snohomish Conservation District! This will be a safe drive-through event where Lynnwood residents can pick up rain barrels, shovel up some compost for your garden, and bring any paper that you need shredded and disposed of safely and securely.

 Rain Barrels

Rain Barrels

Rain barrels are sold out!

On the day of the event you will provide your name or order number to confirm your purchase, we will set out the rain barrels for you, and you will load them into your car.

Why buy a rain barrel?

Rain barrels are a great way to collect water to use later on. There are many benefits to harvesting water with rain barrels. In addition to helping you conserve water, rain barrels can help you to:

  • Cut your household use of water during the hot summer months

  • Water your plants with chlorine-free rainwater that they prefer

  • Clean your car, bike, tools, etc. without ever using the faucet

  • Provide water to livestock

  • Save money on water bills

  • Protect local streams and Puget Sound

Learn more about rain barrels by visiting the Snohomish Conservation District's website.

Compost

Garden Bed

We will have a large pile of compost courtesy of Northwest Landscape Supply for you to take from. This is a self serve event so be prepared to shovel! Make sure to bring sturdy containers to load compost into. Plastic bags are not allowed. Shovels will be provided.

why use compost?

Compost is black gold in the gardening world! It is the best way to naturally fertilize your lawn, flowers, and garden beds.

Some ways to use compost include:

Top dress your lawn with 1/4" of compost to feed your grass and build healthy soil.

Work it into your vegetable garden for increased yields.

Add 1-2 inches of compost around existing plants to feed them the nutrients they crave.

Work some compost into the soil as you plant new trees, shrubs, and flowers.
