Marriage Information

Municipal Court Marriages

The Lynnwood Municipal Court Judge is authorized by law to perform marriage ceremonies in the State of Washington. These ceremonies are performed after hours. Wedding ceremonies may be performed at the Lynnwood Municipal Courthouse Monday through Friday at 4:30 p.m. and may also be performed at other locations and times, subject to the availability of the Judge. Off-site weddings must be arranged with the Judge. Fees are determined by the Judge and vary on the day, time, and location of the ceremony.

Marriage License

At the time you schedule your wedding, the Judge will inform you of the fee of the service. The Judge can perform the wedding three days after the date the license is issued, and the license is valid for only a 60-day period. You may contact the Snohomish County or King County Recorder's Office for more information regarding marriage licenses.

Marriage Ceremony

At the time of the ceremony, you will be required to have 2 people (other than the couple being married) over 18 years of age with you to witness the ceremony. Please bring your license and certificate with you.

You or the Judge have 30 days from the date of the ceremony to return the Department of Health Certificate of Marriage to the county recording office. They will verify and record the certificate. Once this process is complete, you may request certified copies of your marriage certificate. Certified copies can be used as proof of marriage. Certified copies are not automatically sent to married couples.
