Lynnwood's National Night Out

Officer and Explorer at 2019 NNO

Join Us In Community Partnership

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that promotes police-community partnerships and raises awareness about crime in our neighborhoods. The Lynnwood Police Department would like to invite you to participate along with over 16,000 other communities nationwide!

This is also a great opportunity to get together with friends and meet your neighbors because the best crime prevention strategy is to have a strong social network in your neighborhood. Together, we will make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.

Register your event with us! Our officers can swing by, meet your group and answer questions about crime prevention. Other city departments may also drop by for a visit.

National Night Out was introduced in August of 1984 through an already established network of law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, civic groups, state and regional crime prevention associations and volunteers across the nation. The first annual National Night Out involved 2.5 million neighbors across 400 communities in 23 states.

National Night Out grew to become a celebration beyond just front porch vigils and symbolic efforts amongst neighbors to send a message of neighborhood camaraderie. Neighborhoods across the nation began to host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more.
