Police Media and Communications

Welcome to the Lynnwood Police Department Media Center!

Media visits:

The sooner you can send us a request, the better! There are many moving pieces at the department, and it's possible that the person or the topic you're interested in interviewing isn't available or working that day. If you're interested in conducting a ride-along as part of your story, please note that the approval process typically takes at least 24 hours and may be longer.

Do I live in Lynnwood?

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our jurisdiction. I know that the city's borders are confusing. Anything in Unincorporated Lynnwood is considered county property, and therefore, you will need to reach out to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office. View that map here.

Public Disclosure Requests:

Requests for any photos or videos must be submitted through our public disclosure request process. You will need the case number you're interested in to make that request. Please keep in mind that if you're requesting information about an active and ongoing investigation, images, videos, narratives, etc., may not be able to be released, as they could compromise the investigation.

Information the PIO does not release:

Victim or witness identities.

Identity of juveniles (individuals under 18 years of age).

Identity of deceased people (Medical Examiner's office does this).

Criminal History and medical conditions of anyone.

Results of any investigative procedure such as line-ups, interviews/interrogations, polygraph tests, toxicology tests, etc.

Status of people turned over to Behavioral Health Services or Child Protective Services.

Booking Photos or "Mug shots".

Video surveillance footage is not routinely released and is considered evidence in an investigation. If public assistance will aid in the investigation the video footage may be released to the media at the investigators discretion.

Be sure to follow us on our social media! We keep all our socials up to date and post all press releases there.
