DAY OF THE DEAD CELEBRATION ~ Community Multicultural Event

WAGRO (Washington-Guerrero) Foundation, in partnership with the City of Lynnwood, is excited to host the fifth annual El Dia de Meurtos from 12:30pm to 5pm on Saturday, October 29th at the Lynnwood Convention Center, located at 3711 196th St SW.

El Dia de Meurtos – known as theThe Day of the Dead - is one of the most important Mexican holidays. Normally celebrated on November 1 or 2, it is a time for families to honor their departed by creating altars and offering them flowers, food and drink. People also dress as catrinas (skeletons) and write poems (often satirical) called calaveritas literarias (literary skulls).

This year’s event will feature art, music, food, raffles, competitions, and kid’s activities. Artist Blanca Vasquez will be instructing on how to create paper flowers.

Music will feature world-renowned, singer-songwriter from Paco Diez from Spain.  https://www.aulamuseopacodiez.net/paco-d%C3%ADez-guo-ke

A special community altar will be created with an invitation to attendees to bring their own memento to add to the altar to remember a loved-one such as a photograph, flower, candle (battery-operated), or toy.
