Lynnwood Police Use of Force Dashboard

The Lynnwood Police Department contracted with Police Strategies LLC to conduct an in-depth analysis of officer involved use of force incidents.  The current analysis includes data from 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.  Police Strategies LLC developed a Use of Force Dashboard that allows the user to explore the data directly.  The dashboard provides the Department greater analysis of use of force incidents as well as for public transparency.  Our intent is this data will be updated annually.

Moreover, the Lynnwood Police Department is committed to continually seeking safer alternatives during use-of-force incidents. Our department was awarded a $10,209 grant through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Grant program. The grant will be used to purchase equipment, including several less-lethal options. These provide a safer alternative to other options when needed.  Commander Scott Dilworth is the contact for the grant.

Below is the Use of Force Dashboard.  At the top of the dashboard are four buttons.  These will help navigate the dashboard and include the following:

  • Dashboard Instructions

  • Day, Time & Location Of Use of Force Incidents

  • Subject Characteristics & Crimes Charged

  • Use of Force Tactics, Restraints, & Injury Rates

The dashboard is highly interactive. By selecting data within the dashboard, the dashboard will allow the user to define parameters to further explore use of force data.
