“Lynnwood Human Services is pleased to announce a Notice of Funding Availability to support opioid abatement and recovery in its communities. The City is soliciting bids from nonprofit organizations serving communities affected by opioid abuse, utilizing funds made available through the One Washington Opioid Settlement. Successful proposals will be awarded a 2-year contract for up to $250,000. To learn more about this funding opportunity, please visit and set up an online account with the City of Lynnwood Procurement Portal. Applications close March 31, 2026.”

In May 2022, Lynnwood City Council authorized the Mayor to sign an MOU to join the One Washington Opioid Settlement, split between Washington state, counties and cities. As a term of the settlement distribution, participating parties must allocate funds towards addressing the opioid crisis and its symptoms in their communities.

The One Washington Opioid Overdose Settlement Fund provides a resource to help address the growing need for opioid recovery and prevention services in our region. Allowable uses for these funds include:

  • Treating opioid use disorder
  • Supporting people in treatment and recovery
  • Connecting people who need help to the help they need (connections to care)
  • Addressing the needs of criminal-justice involved persons
  • Addressing the needs of pregnant or parenting women and their families, including babies with neonatal abstinence syndrome
  • Preventing over-prescribing and ensure appropriate prescribing and dispensing of opioids
  • Preventing misuse of opioids
  • Preventing overdose deaths and other harms
  • First responders and outreach
  • Leadership, planning and coordination
  • Training
  • Research

Approved Projects and Initiatives

January 2025: Lynnwood Police Department requested $400,000 to provide Medical Assisted Treatment to those staying at the Community Justice Center, approved by City Council.

March 2025: Lynnwood Police Department requested $42,330.50 of Opioid Settlement funds to support the funding of a embedded social worker from Snohomish County Outreach Team (SCOUT), approved by City Council. You can read more about the position and proposal here .

November 2025: City Council approves Lynnwood Human Services to move forward with a Request for Proposals, soliciting local nonprofits serving Lynnwood and South Snohomish County. $525,000 was approved for this project, including:

  • $500,000 to contract with nonprofit service providers 
    • 2 awards minimum, $250,000 maximum funding amount.
  • $25,000 for the Human Services Coordinator for overseeing procurement, selection and contract management.
  • Service dates July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2028.
