The City of Lynnwood Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department believes that volunteers enhance our ability to maintain and improve the quality of life in the community. We count on our volunteers and their dedication to help provide those services that best meet the diverse needs of the community.

The mission of our Volunteer Program is to bring our citizens together to achieve a stronger, more connected community while enabling Lynnwood Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts to continue to offer an excellent variety of high quality and affordable recreational, educational, and cultural programs through the use of volunteer expertise.

Volunteer Guidelines

  • Minimum age: 13 years
  • Minors will need a parent waiver to be signed before participating
  • Adults are required to submit to a background check before volunteering
  • We may receive more applications than positions available. In this case, a wait list will be created.

The City of Lynnwood Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department has numerous opportunities for individuals who are interested in sharing their time and talents. These opportunities require varying time commitments, skills and work focus. You are sure to find something just right for you.

 

The Lynnwood Arts Commission brings quality arts experiences – visual, literary and performing – to all of us. If you love the arts and want to serve your community, please consider joining us! Monthly meetings are on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7 pm at the Lynnwood Senior Center. Must be a resident of Lynnwood.

Join the docent program at Heritage Park and experience the history of Lynnwood! Docents are trained as park tour guides, and will have an opportunity to participate in museum activities.

The History and Heritage Board plays a pivotal role in preserving Lynnwood's historical and cultural resources. They undertake research and fact-finding and make recommendations for City Council action to recognize and preserve historic sites, structures, artifacts, trees and landscapes. The board also serves as the primary forum for citizen participation in recognizing and preserving the history of the community.

This is an amazing opportunity for teens to gain valuable leadership and work experience! Spend your summer playing with children, meeting new friends and having fun at our exciting day camps. As a Junior Counselor, you will assist camp staff in providing engaging activities for young campers while enjoying the amenities of a 40-acre wooded park. This includes building forts, playing sports, get-wet activities and field trips with destinations in the greater Seattle area. What better way to spend the summer than in the outdoors with friends

Build your experience and knowledge of aquatic safety by becoming a Junior Lifeguard! After completion of our Junior Lifeguard class, you can volunteer, build work experience and eventually your first job at the Lynnwood pool!  We also have a Junior Lifeguard Club to learn more skills and have fun with others.

Become a park service volunteer and help improve Lynnwood's parks, open space and trail systems. Volunteer projects include wildlife habitat enhancement, invasive plant removal, planting, debris removal and trail construction. Individuals, groups and special projects are welcome.

Volunteers help to maintain and improve Lynnwood's parks. Our park service volunteers of all ages contribute many hours and have great fun along the way! 

The Park Volunteer Program offers a variety of ways to help Lynnwood's parks. You can join an upcoming work party or identify your own group work party. Tools, gloves and equipment are provided. All ages are welcome to participate.

This advisory board of Lynnwood residents is committed to safeguard and represent the public interest in Lynnwood's parks, recreation and natural preservation activities. The Board meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm at the Lynnwood Senior Center.

There’s lots to do at the Lynnwood Senior Center! We welcome volunteers of all ages. Come teach a class, play a game, help on our computer lab or serve coffee and treats. Customer service assistance at the front desk is always needed.
