The City is planning improvements to the sanitary sewer system and roadway along 48th Ave W between 200th St SW and 196th St SW. This project will replace aging and undersized sewer infrastructure, improve pavement conditions, and enhance safety and mobility for all users.

The existing sewer main along this corridor is undersized and identified in the City’s Comprehensive Plan for replacement. Work will include replacing approximately 1,200 linear feet of sewer pipe and associated manholes to increase system capacity.

The project will also address deteriorated pavement along 48th Ave W. The City will evaluate pavement and subgrade conditions of 48th Ave W between 196th St and 200th St to identify improvements needed, along with possible updated lane striping for traffic safety. Improvements may include bike lanes modifications, modifications to on-street parking, and other changes in street configuration to improve overall traffic operations and safety.

This project combines needed sewer pipe replacement with much needed roadway and pavement improvements, thus providing efficiencies through a combined project approach.

Design is currently underway in coordination with the City’s consultant (Gray & Osborne, Inc.).
