First and foremost, we are lucky to be an outdoor camp.  The regulations from the Health District tell us to get the kids outside as much as possible and we are thankful that we are already set up to do that.  We are also thankful that our park is HUGE, 40 acres worth of space to explore. We can spread out and not have any one area overly congested.  With that said, campers will be divided into groups that will consist of 10 campers and 1 Counselor.  These will be their core groups that they stay with throughout the week.  Just like in years past, our counselors will get to plan their own activities for the week based on our planning requirements: science, literature, art, games, health, etc.  We will continue to be strategic in our use of playgrounds, shared equipment, group games, etc ensuring they are done in a safe manner.  We are balancing the need to keep our campers safe AND being able to have a fun environment for them to play, laugh and run around.

We have several safety steps that we are implementing this year:

1.  Upon your arrival at Lynndale Park, campers and their parents, will exit the car and walk to your camper's group meeting location.  If your child has a fever, is showing symptoms of being sick or if they have been around someone who is sick with COVID 19, please keep them home until they’re healthy!

2.  To cut down on touchpoints, we have moved our paperwork to digital copies.  Please go to the Kamp Kook info page (https://www.lynnwoodwa.gov/Community/Play-Lynnwood/Classes-Activities/Youth-Activities/Sign-up-for-Kamp-Kookamunga) to fill out your General Release form.

3.  Each Counselor group will have a wagon!  Within the wagon they will have a traveling hand washing station, hand sanitizer, and an individual bag of supplies for each camper.  These bags will consist of markers, pens, scissors, glue sticks, etc.  At the end of the week the counselors will sanitize each item and create new bags for the next week.

4.  We have cancelled all of our “adventure” field trips for the summer, however, we still plan to go to the Lynnwood Pool to swim on Wednesdays.  Each group will have their own van that they will travel to and from the Rec Center.  The vans will then be disinfected and ready for another group.

5.  We are brining more fun to camp!  On Thursdays we will have a special planned activity for our campers – Magician, Jet City Improv, Bouncy Houses, just to name a few!

6.  Let’s talk about rain for a moment.  Although we typically have access to Lynndale Elementary as our rainy-day site, we will avoid using the gym as much as possible.  Therefore, on rainy days we will utilize our park shelters, the undercover area at Lynndale Elementary and we might go hide under the trees.  Please help us out on these days by sending your kids in a raincoat or send warm clothes.

Some changes this summer to look forward to:

1.  Masks:  We will not require masks to be worn this summer.  If you would still like your camper to wear a mask, please make sure to send them with one each day.

2.  Large Group Games:  We are excited to bring back large group games where everyone at camp will be able to gather and play games together!

3.  Group Pair Ups:  Groups will no longer just have to stay in their individual groups but will be able to pair up with other groups for fun activities!

4.  Free Time:  We know campers will be excited to have free time back as a large group!  They will be able to play with friends of all ages in their free choice play!

At this time, we are still ensuring the safety of our campers and staff but we also want your campers to know that camp is going to be fun this year and we can’t wait to get back to our old Kook ways!
