Gale Johansen, "The Hazards of Being a Sitting Duck Reveal Themselves in Short Order"
Gale Johansen
After working as a graphic artist for a short time, I switched to solely creating personal art. My art has been described as playful, humorous, whimsical, and wild. I incorporate old-fashioned words and double meanings in the titles to add humor and food for thought. I use a stream-of-consciousness approach when creating. My art tells me what direction to take; I don't tell my art where to go. Although I use symbolic images (Magic 8 Ball, elephants, "birthday" snails, etc.) in my work, there is no "correct" meaning. Each viewer has a unique interpretation based on their experiences.
Gale Johansen Bio
I was born in Seattle and am a life-long resident of the Puget Sound area. After receiving a diploma from the Burnley School of Professional Art, I followed with a B.F.A. from the University of Washington in Printmaking. I've been in exhibitions at: Bellevue Art Museum, Solovei Gallery, Revolution Gallery, The Schack Art Center, the Red Door Gallery, Heritage Gallery, Avenue D Gallery, The Guilded Gallery, Gallery By the Bay, and Parklane Gallery, I was featured in Washington North Coast Magazine, NW Poets & Artists Calendar, The Herald, and The Tribune, The Lynnwood Arts Commission has one of my pieces in their collection. The Schack Art Center honored me with Artist of the Year in 2017.

Marcus Shriver, "Tarp and Dolly"
Marcus Shriver
My work focuses on history, place, culture, and displacement. My experiences with displacement as an adoptee gleam throughout my work through themes of lost history and finding culture. Each piece is portrait of an ephemeral moment. Working with 35mm film I hope to document today's moments in a way that replicates and extends the visual qualities of the 80s and 90s. By doing this I hope to expand, stir, and explore seemingly insignificant moments with vibrance and importance.
Marcus Shriver Bio
Marcus Shriver (he/him) is a Seattle-based Chicanx visual artist utilizing 80’s and 90’s technology to interpret current events blending the past and the contemporary. After debuting his first gallery work in 2022 Marcus has had his work exhibited at the University of Northern Colorado, Nepantla Cultural Arts Gallery and Gallery B612 in Seattle, Sarah Spurgeon Gallery in Ellensburg, Washington, Graphite Arts Center in Edmonds, Washington, as well as Black Box Gallery located in Portland. In the Fall of 2024 Gallery B612 curated a solo exhibition of Marcus's work at the Republic of Cider in Seattle. Marcus's visual analysis on local history and location in relation to current politics and culture creates work that is vibrant and poignant.
