Adoring Kit
Blaine Amidon
Artist Statement
Our world has amazing and beautiful things to see. From our backyards to faraway lands. From mountain landscapes to dew drops on a flower. Sometimes nature cooperates and displays amazing views to photograph, and sometimes it provides rain, wind, and fog. But even rain, wind, and fog can create beautiful scenes. When I am outside with my camera, I try to capture that beauty in my photographs, no matter how big, small, or subtle that beauty is.
Bio
Blaine is a retired Boeing Engineer. He got his first camera (a Nikon FE2) in 1980 before traveling to Great Britain. On that trip he seemed to exhibit a natural gift for creating appealing compositions. In 45 years of taking photos, he has taken only one class to learn photography basics (such as depth of field, use of shutter speeds, composition, etc.). He has mostly self-taught himself by viewing other photographers work, and learning from trial and error, and his mistakes. He loves to hike and spend time outside, so photographing landscapes and wildlife is a great hobby for him. He agrees with his wife’s philosophy “It is wonderful spending time outside in beautiful places”. He has had several photographs featured in the Seattle Times Readers Lens, and participates in local art shows.

El Robot
J. Dario Pinto
Artist Statement
The paintings that I have presented are a homage to the craft and artistry found in the world of puppetry. The subjects are marionettes designed and created by my late father, Lucio E. Pinto, and the paintings reflect my interpretation of my father’s world view through the art of puppetry and stagecraft.
Bio
J. Dario Pinto was born in Bolivia, South America, in a city called Cochabamba. Due to political unrest in the early 1970s, at the age of four, his family moved to Mexico before, eventually, moving to the United States in December of 1976. Mr. Pinto’s family moved directly to Seattle and so made the NW their home. Mr. Pinto’s love for art flourished when he was very young and he was also encouraged by both his parents to appreciate the world of art; his mother, Maria Luisa Pinto, is a trained painter and his late father, Lucio E. Pinto, was a self-taught puppeteer. Mr. Pinto’s art reflects the encouragement and the cultural impact that was instilled in his art-filled household.

Daniel Lee, "Eras of War"
Daniel Lee
Artist Statement: Watercolor was an immense struggle at first. It was everything against what I thought art should be: straight lines and crisp details that jumped off the page. Puddles and drips seemed to fight against me as I attempted to steer them. I toiled to render detail by detail precisely, only to watch water undo all of my progress. But over time, my mindset shifted. I started seeing the beauty of looseness, in the space between intention and accident. By the end I realized that though I respected the work that went into creating work that was accurate, indistinguishable next to a photo; I came to love watercolor and its expression and open-endedness, leaving viewers to fill in the details for themselves.
Biography: Daniel Lee (b. 2011) is a 14-year-old artist, cellist, and fencer based in Bellevue, Washington. A freshman in high school, Daniel creates watercolor and collage works that explore themes of contentment, belonging, and everyday joy. His art often captures quiet moments—whether in a family hut or a stadium crowd—inviting viewers to reflect and fill in the emotional details. Outside the studio, Daniel studies classical cello and practices fencing, both of which shape his sense of rhythm, discipline, and flow. He’s passionate about inclusive creative spaces and storytelling that blends visual art, music, and symbolism. Daniel continues to develop his voice through collaborative projects rooted in emotional depth and cultural resonance.
