This project is for the construction of an arterial bridge to connect Poplar Way/196th ST SW and 33rd Ave West. The City Center Access Study identified this bridge as an alternative to the 196th Street SW crossing at I-5. It is the most significant solution for congestion relief in the City Center along 196th ST SW and around Alderwood Mall.

This project is the second highest priority project identified by the City Center Access Study. The project has received grants funds of $3,209,000 and $3,050,000 for the Design and ROW phases respectively. The construction phase has recently received $45 Million in federal and state grant funding.

Currently the project is in 100% Plans, Specifications and Estimate (PS&E) review phase of design. The City anticipates completing the design phase in the fourth quarter of 2024. The right-of-way phase is also planned to finish by the end of the fourth quarter of 2024.
